Good

Every staff member is exceptionally friendly. Location is good within Panajachel and parking is straightforward and included (not standard on the lake). Great views from the deluxe bedrooms. Ongoing renovations made for a brand new bathroom in our bedroom, upgrades are being continued. We also like that there is a kids club.

This was our second time at this hotel, and -- given the price -- there were a few major letdowns, which is why we cancelled our third stay we had planned before. Service times, especially of the kids club, are erratic. It's impossible to find out exactly when it starts and ends and everybody, including written information, will give you different info. There is a cinema night organized by the kids club on Saturdays. It's the second time we experienced this and we love the idea. Due to a wedding at the hotel, and maybe also the weather, the cinema night was moved indoors. The kids (they speak fluent Spanish) asked about pricing for Popcorn etc. and were told we wouldn't need to bother. We didn't have all inclusive but paid what we consumed. During the night, they were refused additional snacks after the first, while the kids on all inclusive plans could have as many as they wanted. They were very upset about that, especially since noone bothered to ask us if we would pay extra (which we would have), so we were upset too. We made that known and nobody cared. Lastly, in regard to food, Sunday breakfast was mixed. Hearty options were good, but sweet options were a joke for the price: There were (bad) pastries and French Toast (which is horrible, already in its presentation). In the beginning, there was some Creme Brulet, maybe leftovers from the wedding, but that was never refilled. Made our already annoyed kids (because of the snack situation during movie night) even more grumpy. Buffet dinner on Friday was poor, there were practically only limited meat choices. I don't want waste either, but come on: Beef or pork? That's not a choice for that price, how abiut beef and fish / seafood? We've stayed in several Porta Hotels in the Antigua area, including the main house, and they're all far superior in that regard, along the way offering better value.

It was a great experience

The property is very clean. It’s right on the lake with amazing lake views for all the rooms in the property. Nice buffet. Great kids club.

The AC in the room sometimes doesn’t work and the cleaning lady just stops AC in the middle of the day. The pool is not heated and it’s pretty cold even in a hot day. You need to book Jacuzzi and it’s a waitlist to visit Jacuzzi. They have different prices for locals.

Fabulous for every age

I liked the facilities, the rooms were remodeled so they were comfortable, clean and up to date. The staff were extremely cordial. We enjoyed the food, the jacuzzi, the swimming pool, the view, the kids area, the location and the rooms.

I would add air conditioning. We had a fan but I do recommend air conditioning

If you are after a resort style hotel in Pana this is a very good option

Nice place to stay if you love a resort vibe. It's a great location in the heart of Panajachel. Overall we enjoyed our stay and the staff were friendly, helpful and kind. We stayed at some smaller places in other towns on the lake and found them more charming but this was a great place to reset after the long journey from the United States to Lake Atitlan. We would recommend this hotel for travelers who prioritize comfort and amenities over cultural immersion. It is a very nice hotel.

The huge empty courtyard diminishes the view a bit. Our friends were also staying in Panajachel. The doorman would not allow them to come up, even for just five minutes, to see our room. We understand, rules are rules, but it would have been nice to allow them to see where we were staying (might have made future customers out of them too). Most big hotels like this have a no guest policy so this wasn't unexpected, still kind of a bummer though.

Great place to stay with kids

We really enjoyed our stay at Porta Hotel del Lago. The hotel was a perfect place to stay with kids, we spent our afternoons at the pool. It was well located very close to the lanchas and Calle Santander yet still a quiet and peaceful reprieve from the hustle and bustle. The staff were all wonderful and kind. I highly recommend for anyone staying in Pana with a family.

One of the best options in Pana but noise is an issue.

The lake view. The staff are friendly and welcoming and more than happy to help. Location great for exploring the other villages by Lancha. The room was large (suite with view) , bathroom and shower great. Beds comfortable.

The noise. Glazing in the room is old and lacks sound proofing. Very difficult to sleep with the hotel generator, local traffic, hotel moving laundry in the early hours etc Didn't get one good sleep but that did mean I didn't miss one sunrise...

Wonderful

Beautiful hotel in the Italian Lago-Style right on the Lake. Friendly staff, good location and overall good amenities; good food options and Sunday breakfasts that include a (n albeit touristy) Marinba show. The big plus for us is the kids' club on the weekend, including an open-air movie night with popcorn on Saturday for the kids. Given all the amenities, we also didn't spend more than for average weekends on the beach, which makes this place good value too. Enjoyed every minute, will be back!

The playground (without the kids club) needs benches/sitting possibilities with tables for drinks, shade and is overall careless in design. A makeover would make this hotel even more family friendly as the kids club's opening times are limited to the weekends.

Good stay for getting around Lake Atitlan and Panajachel

Clean property and great location near the ferries for getting around Lake Atitlan. Beds were comfortable and wi-fi was very fast.

Shower head was clogged but couldn’t reach it to clean it. The onsite pool and restaurant weren’t very nice.
